He collaborated with Steve on his early albums and toured with him playing flute, guitar and bass pedals.<\/p>\n<p>He was a founder member of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.symbiosis-music.com\/aboutsym.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Symbiosis<\/a>, with Clive Williamson and Richard Bolton.<\/p>\n<p>He has recorded several classical solo and duo albums, but\u00a02005 saw a change of direction with John releasing a rock album of his own songs, lyrics by Nick Clabburn,\u00a0<strong>Checking Out of London<\/strong>\u00a0which was given 5 stars in Record Collector magazine. \u00a0This was followed by an\u00a0experimental flute\/dance album <strong>Red Planet Rhythm<\/strong> with Moodi Drury.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/johnmarco-782x440-400x261.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-42\" src=\"http:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/johnmarco-782x440-400x261-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/johnmarco-782x440-400x261-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/johnmarco-782x440-400x261-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>John has worked alongside Italian organist\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marcolomuscio.com\/\">Marco Lo Muscio<\/a>, in live performances across Europe playing a unique blend of classical and progressive music, and they have also collaborated on the\u00a0<a title=\"Playing The History (page does not exist)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.playingthehistory.com\/\">Playing The History<\/a>\u00a0project.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/nuffield-340x226.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-55\" src=\"http:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/nuffield-340x226-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/nuffield-340x226-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/nuffield-340x226.jpg 340w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><\/a>Since 2012, John has worked with classical guitarist\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/nickfletcherguitar\/\">Nick Fletcher<\/a>. They have performed as a flute\/guitar duo across England and recorded two albums of instrumental music, the first of which also featured Steve Hackett.<\/p>\n<p>The release of the rock album\u00a0<strong>Another Life<\/strong>\u00a0(on Esoteric Antenna)\u00a0in 2015 was the catalyst to\u00a0forming\u00a0the new\u00a0John Hackett Band\u00a0with Nick, Jeremy Richardson and Duncan Parsons in 2016. Following several live shows, they recorded a new studio album\u00a0<strong>We Are Not Alone<\/strong>, released in 2017 with a bonus live disc recorded in May 2016 at the Classic Rock Society in Maltby.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jhband-trinity-662x440-400x266.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-39\" src=\"http:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jhband-trinity-662x440-400x266-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jhband-trinity-662x440-400x266-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/jhband-trinity-662x440-400x266.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He has published three books with backing CDs of original music written specially to help new flute-players to learn the instrument.<\/p>\n<p>John Hackett is one of the few flautists in the world to play a vertical flute.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Solo flautist, guitarist, singer and composer, John is best known for his work with his brother\u00a0Steve Hackett, the former Genesis guitarist.
