{"id":1001,"date":"2024-01-31T22:04:41","date_gmt":"2024-01-31T22:04:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/?p=1001"},"modified":"2024-02-01T10:20:32","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T10:20:32","slug":"hacktrax-news-january-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hacktrax.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/01\/31\/hacktrax-news-january-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Hacktrax News January 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The year kicked off with a return to the magical setting of Trading Boundaries&nbsp; for an acoustic concert over two evenings with my brother Steve Hackett, ably assisted by Roger King and Rob Townsend. This has become something of an annual treat for all concerned. For those of you who were unable to attend, here&#8217;s a taster &#8211; it&#8217;s Debussy&#8217;s gorgeous piece for solo flute which tells of Pan&#8217;s doomed pursuit of the nymph, Syrinx:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Syrinx (Debussy) - John Hackett\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UqgC69TKO8o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The story ends with Syrinx being transformed into hollow water reeds which the spurned Pan then cuts and blows across making the original pipes of pan.&nbsp; <br>I couldn&#8217;t help thinking the resigned tranquillity of that final descending whole tone scale&nbsp; was in stark contrast to the raging storm that awaited us as we ventured outside for the drive home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up for me is a trip on Sunday 4th February to 1865 Southampton, another favourite venue, where I shall be adding my flute to the wonderful band that is the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beatrixplayers.co.uk\/\">Beatrix Players<\/a><\/strong> featuring the talented Ms. Amy Birks. We will be performing the whole of our new album <strong><em>Living &amp; Alive<\/em><\/strong> plus tracks from their first album <strong><em>Magnified<\/em><\/strong>:<br>&nbsp;<em>&#8216;<strong>Living &amp; Alive<\/strong> is an album of innate beauty and charm, combining elements of&nbsp;classical and folk with an overriding prog twist. Its songs explore facets of life, in particular, the joy and the pain of the human condition.&#8217; Alison Reijman, Background Magazine.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then Thursday 22nd February my own ingeniously named <strong>John Hackett Band<\/strong> joins forces with the <strong>Beatrix Players<\/strong> and <strong>Amanda Lehmann<\/strong> for what promises to be a very varied evening of prog at the Band on the Wall, Manchester. Many will know Amanda from her frequent appearances with Steve Hackett as well as her lovely solo album, <strong><em>Innocence and Illusion<\/em><\/strong>. It will be a joy to share the evening with such gifted songwriters as Amanda and Amy. With some venues it&#8217;s a return visit while others are new to us which is always exciting.
