It’s been terrific to be back out on the road this year with the John Hackett Band starting off down in sunny Minehead for the Giants of Rock Festival. We’ve had the pleasure of taking part in a few other festivals – Fusion 3 in Stourport, Winter’s End, Chepstow plus a Prog All-Dayer at the Robin 2. Just recently we were at Seven Arts in Leeds alongside the fabulous Joanne Harris (author and flute-player!) and the Storytime Band. And we’re really looking forward to appearing at A New Day Festival in Faversham on 20 August where over that weekend you can also see such legends as Focus and Jethro Tull. My next gig is with Amy Birks (Beatrix Players) and her terrific band. I’ve had the delightful job of playing flute on her two solo albums All That I Am & All That I Was and her latest release In Our Souls. We had our first rehearsal this weekend for the album launch (have a look here). It was amazing to hear those gorgeous songs and her fantastic voice live. Do come along on Saturday 18 June to the Jubilee Hall, Stoke on Trent if you can. With support from the Blackheart Orchestra it promises to be a wonderful evening! Tickets here Just in case you missed it, do check out this lovely video by artist Frank Grabowski to the Festival Hall live performance of Serpentine Song, which my brother Steve wrote for our late father. The video is based on a black and white photo of our dear mum, Steve and myself in our grandmother’s garden in Hainault. |
